Since we are getting so close to reopening this group, it seemed like a good time to explain what CHA is really all about and how we roleplay, and possibly what you can do in order to fit in better. First of all, if it wasn't clear enough from before, the story of this roleplay is set in a boarding school in Cutler, Maine (US), which means all of our characters live at the school and attend classes there. With time, all characters will begin to experience strange events, some creepier than others, and the fact that they're all beginning to witness these things is exactly what makes the group bond together, as they have this in common, so don't worry if your character isn't friends with everyone else right off the bat.
The group will be led by the Game Masters (like Dungeon Masters, basically, but without the dice) of the group, AngelNess
(we don't need additional mods to help us out with this, we've got this covered). Basically, what this means is, we will push for and describe events, and your job is to merely have your character react to it in whatever way suits their personality (and don't worry, we are not unfair in any way - we have years of RP experience). For whenever paranormal occurrences aren't going on, we roleplay in a more slice-of-life fashion, so you're free to do what you want, so long as it's not excessive rule-breaking or anything else a student in a posh boarding school wouldn't be doing. It's all basically like going through a ghost/horror story, except you're not just reading or watching, you're actually in it with your character; you help make the decisions, you help writing the story. It may seem this story fits better as a written fictional story, and you're probably right in thinking that, as it was supposed to have been just a story, until we realized it would've made for one heck of a roleplaying plot!
Also, I'd like to point out that we are not an event based group, so we don't usually do assignments, nor seasonal events such as Secret Santa, but it's up for discussion. The reason is because not everyone in this group draws and/or writes.
When creating/revamping your character for CHA, keep in mind that they don't need to stand out in extreme ways (such as being incredibly talented or really rebellious). It's actually better if you base this character off of one or several real people you know in real life if you're unsure about how to create a character that isn't extreme in one way or another. The roleplay is surprisingly down-to-earth, with the exception of the paranormal, so the more natural your character comes off, the better. We're not saying your character should be boring (you don't only know boring people, right?), just be careful of what traits and talents you give them, and focus on a well-developed and balanced personality instead. I mean, your character shouldn't have to have superpowers or be the son of Satan in order to be interesting. If you're unsure about how to create a good and balanced character, have a look around on dA or google it, there are many good guides out there (you can also leave a comment here and ask for examples, we might be able to dig up some stuff or simply share our knowledge).
I believe I've covered everything I had in mind before sitting down to write all of this, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
